San Sebastian Street Festival 2025: January 16-19
Puerto Rico's most iconic festival kicks off in on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Thousands of locals and visitors will fill the streets of Old San Juan to celebrate day and night in this cultural festival that rivals Rio's Carnival or Mardi Gras.
The official schedule will be announced soon.
To help you make the most of this unique experience in San Juan, here are our essential recommendations:
Transportation and Access
- If staying outside Old San Juan, plan to arrive early. Vehicle access will be restricted from 6 PM Thursday and Friday, and from 11 AM Saturday and Sunday. La Puntilla parking is exclusive for residents.
- Take advantage of public transportation: the ferry from Hato Rey or Cataño is an excellent alternative (verify the last trip schedule).
- Parking will be available at Hiram Bithorn Stadium and Sagrado Corazón Station.
- AMA buses will operate continuously from the Hiram Bithorn Stadium and Sagrado Corazón Station.
- Return bus service will continue until after midnight.
Music and Entertainment
- Enjoy live music at the main stages: Plaza del Quinto Centenario, Plaza Colón, Plaza de Armas, and Plaza de La Barandilla, plus impromptu shows throughout the city.
- For popular concerts, especially at Plaza Quinto Centenario, arrive early to get a good spot.
- The party continues late - set a meeting point away from San Sebastian Street if going with a group.
- Concerts end at 11 PM (earlier on Sunday).
- Bars generally close at midnight.
Tips for a Better Experience
- Afternoons, especially Saturday and Sunday, are perfect for families as they're less crowded.
- Stay hydrated - Caribbean weather can be intense even in January.
- Don't let rain stop you - ponchos are sold everywhere.
- Need a break? Visit the Paseo de la Princesa for a quieter atmosphere.
- If you prefer avoiding crowds, consider taking a day trip to nearby destinations.
